Our Purpose

​

Called by the Holy Spirit to be a community together, we are transformed and sent by Christ to bear witness to God’s creative, redeeming, and liberating work in the world.

 

Our Values and Practices

​

• We proclaim the good news of the gospel, which is God’s trustworthy promise that we are loved and saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

 

• We gather in worship around the Word and the sacraments to see, hear, smell, taste and touch this promise of forgiveness, life and salvation, responding with prayers of praise and thanksgiving. 

 

• We translate the wisdom and insights of our Lutheran tradition to nurture a contemporary, socially-engaged, intergenerational Christian community.   

 

• We follow the Holy Spirit into healing, joy and transformation through spiritual practice, scripture study and mutual accompaniment.

 

• We engage our faith as an individual journey and a communal voyage, sharing our stories with vulnerability, authenticity and generosity to grow in faith, hope, and love. 

 

• We extend the grace given to us by uplifting each other’s dignity, welcoming people as they are, cultivating a safe and compassionate community that nurtures healing and wholeness.

 

• We embody the priesthood of all believers through shared power and respect, affirmation and appreciation for each other’s efforts, and collaboration on every level of our ministry together.

 

• We celebrate our communion with the wider web of the church catholic, in every place, across time and space.  

 

• We serve our neighbors in response to God’s love through our daily lives, as the primary setting for our Christian calling to meet human needs, caring for the sick and the aged, advocating dignity and justice for all people, working for peace and reconciliation in our city, and acting in solidarity with the poor and disempowered. 

 

• We aspire to be faithful ancestors and to sustain our church community with our time, talents and resources for those who will follow and their descendants, to the seventh generation.
